Classroom work|:

We are off to a great start on this 2011-2012 year!  The students are learning

the short sounds of  the vowels a,e,i,o,and u. They are also learning to             recognize the alphabet by playing "alphabet bingo" and other abc games.

The students are excited about learning to write their names and the letters of the alphabet.  (Remember, if you help your child at home, always tell them to start at the top of letter. Example: Some have learned to start at the bottom of letters such as T and push up. This is very hard to reteach the correct way to make the letters, if they have learned to make it wrong.) Thanks for all of your help!

The students have been introduced to the following consonants and sounds: Tt, Bb, Ll, Mm, and Nn. Next week (September 26th-30th) they will be introduced to the letters and sounds of Hh and Ss.

These are the sight words they are learning: I, the. a, see, in, no, yes, color

words: red, green, blue, yellow, purple, orange, brown, black.

In Math, they have learned to recognize numbers 0-10, count to 100, worked with graphs, shapes, patterns, one-to-one correspondence and ordinal

numbers, addition and subtraction stories.

We are beginning a unit on community helpers and birds.

Study Guide:

Parents, be sure to check their study guide each Monday to see what we are working on for the week. Tests are each Friday, and you will receive their tests back the same day of the test.
